Osareme Irivbogbe, M.D. – Chair, Department of Medicine & Associate Program Director

Dr. Osareme Irivbogbe (Dr. Anthony) is an interventional cardiologist with Tennova Heart in Knoxville, Tennessee where he lives and practices. After graduating from the University Benin College of Medicine in his native country of Nigeria, Dr. Anthony continued his career in medicine first as a medical officer in Sangre Grande County Hospital in the Caribbean nation of Trinidad and Tobago. Following that, hecompleted a residency in internal medicine at Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Dr. Anthony worked as an internist on the west coast in Arizona and Nevada for some years before returning to academia for a subspecialty fellowship in cardiovascular diseases and interventional cardiology at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. Since his completion of the fellowship in 2016, Dr. Anthony has developed a robust cardiovascular practice with Tennova Heart at North Knoxville Medical Center in Powell, Tennessee.

During his tenure, Dr. Anthony has assumed various leadership positions including cath lab director and department chair. He has been apreceptor and adjunctive faculty member of Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine, continually contributing to the academic and clinical development of medical students. He is a current fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a professional member of the European Society of Cardiology.

In his spare time, Dr. Anthony enjoys spending time with his family. Having played soccer in college, he is an avid follower of international soccer. He enjoys seeing new cultures and loves traveling and creative writing.
